Vancouver, BC
This was a performance event that took place in conjunction with the Back Alley Gallery Project. Various items were collected and assembled, then smashed with a range of hammers and other implements, including a shovel, a sword and metal gauntlets.
This performance event was held in response to the US Supreme Court Justice Confirmation Hearings of Brett Kavanaugh and discussions held in response to these hearings. The act of smashing symbolic objects with force and purpose serves to affirm the validity of female anger in the face of injustice.
People of all ages and genders participated in the smashing and discussions were held around the topics of rage, power and gender.
